Designed to foster the talents and career paths of Michigan’s upcoming tech talent, Midwest Technology Leaders (MTL) and ConnecTech are teaming up for an exciting new program: the Information Technology Executive Mentoring Program. The program will offer support and resources to individuals in various disciplines across the IT field.
According to MTL, mentees will meet quarterly with their mentors, who include the likes of Phil Bertolini, Deputy County Executive and Chief Information Officer of Oakland County; Ruthanne Largent, Director of IS at MGM Grand; Joe Sawasky, Chief Information Officer and AVP at Wayne State University; and four other metro Detroit CIOs.
At the quarterly meetings, the pairs will discuss professional and personal growth opportunities, focus on and improving the mentee’s skill sets, and assist him or her in setting goals and measuring achievement.
Executive Coach Barry Demp will provide additional training to mentors and mentees to strengthen the relationships between them. Demp is a master certified coach and president of the Michigan chapter of the International Coach Federation.
(Sidenote: Thanks to TJ for giving me the heads-up that the deadline to apply for this year’s program has passed. This is a nine-month program, so expect to hear about next year’s application process later this year.)

Thanks for the heads-up, TJ. I have amended the post. It looks like it is a nine-month program, so I’ll keep my eyes peeled for the next round of sign-ups.

If you go to their website the deadline for submission has already passed. February 18th was the last day to register. Would have been cool to go though this.
