Craft Uprising & Art in the Alley in Wyandotte

May 1st, 2008 in Art, Creative, Events, Gallery, Lifestyle

Owl printSuper fine crafters will set up tables to sell their wares during Wyandotte’s 3rd Friday, May 16, 6:00-10:00 p.m. Buy directly from the artists in this showcase of talented Detroit area indie talent.

This month’s Craft Uprising participants are Taryn Boyd of TalkingSquid with her handmade rugs from old t-shirts; Joey Merchant’s plush monsters from recycled fabrics; birch bark jewelry by Heather Fagan of BirdsGather; Michelle Kramp with one-of-a-kind handbags and accessories from recycled textiles; and Michelle Pappas’ recycled sweaters transformed into handbags and eyeglass cases.

Art in the Alley is a collaboration with Spunky Monkey Art Association whose mission is to illuminate the value and joy of arts and culture within the diverse Downriver communities. Spunky Monkey will host art related activities in the alley behind Biddle Gallery.

The city of Wyandotte purchased the Masonic Temple on Chestnut in downtown Wyandotte with the hope of turning the space into an art center. Tours of the building will be given to generate interest for potential occupants. There will also be a live performance by Apartment 4 and Rogue Satellites.

Submission from Biddle Gallery.
