May 9th, 2008 in Events, Lansing, Lansing / Jackson
Attention progressives (or anyone who lives in Michigan, cares about critical issues in their community and supports progressive solutions): the 2008 Michigan Policy Summit is this Saturday.
The summit — which runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Lansing Center - brings labor, environment, social justice and other progressive groups together to move Michigan forward.
Eight hundred people are expected to converge on the Lansing Center for this year’s summit, which will focus on three key issues: education, environment and health care. For $30 per person, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in forums on key issues, as well as network, plan and share best practices with fellow attendees. Examples of afternoon breakout sessions include, “Leadership and Diversity”, “Social Entrepreneurship” and “Arts in Organizing”. Keynote speakers at the event include Jim Hightower, a national radio commentator, writer and public speaker, and Amy Goodman, author and the host and executive producer of Democracy Now!, a national, daily, independent, award-winning news program airing on 650 radio and television stations in North America.
