April 11th, 2008 in Autos, Companies, Design, Detroit, Green, Performance

Chevy VoltGM has released some new information about the release of the Chevrolet Volt. Here is an update on the development of the electric-powered car.

The biggest news on the Volt’s development thus far is that engineers have come up with an algorithm for testing the durability of the batteries that can simulate 10 years of use — 150,000 miles — in just over two years of testing. Writer of ‘The Wire’ to Speak at GVSU

by Jaime Pfeffer

March 18th, 2008 in Creative, Entertainment, Events, Film, Grand Rapids, Performance, West Michigan

The WireI’m not a big TV-watcher, but there are a few shows that I watch religiously. One of them — HBO’s “The Wire” — came to an end last week, and I have no qualms admitting that I am seriously bummed that it is over. A critically-acclaimed crime drama set in Baltimore, “The Wire” was simply one of the best shows on television.

While it doesn’t substitute for another episode or season of the HBO series, Western Michiganites have a chance to prolong their ‘Wire’ experience this evening at Grand Valley State University: as part of Women’s History Month activities, “The Wire” writer Kia Corthron will speak at GVSU about the impact of women in theater, film and television. O’Neill hopes to set a world record for being the first restaurant to host 1,000 people singing the Irish tune “Danny Boy” for 50 consecutive hours, according to this C&G New story. [ Read more ]
