We all know how important - scratch that - vital it is to cultivate Michigan’s creative economy. Doing so will allow us to retain and attract the type of dynamic young people our region needs to turn itself around, and will help our great state get away from its reliance on an outdated auto industry. Once these things start happening, capital and talent will follow and Michigan will attain a prominent position in the global economy.

The University of Michigan has teamed up with Apple to offer “a heavy dose of educational content such as classroom lectures, debates and study material” through the popular iTunes service.

As Digg meets Kevin Kelly, iliketotallyloveit is a user-generated website for all things cool. From the Tetris wall decals to the choco-lator calculator to the “large glow in the dark shades,” iliketotallyloveit is filled with items that you’ll, like, totally want to have.
Products are categorized into topics including art & design, fashion and gadgets. And because it’s user-generated, you’re more than welcome to add to the site when you find something special. The Detroit Green Map is currently at version 1.1. An interactive guide to eco-friendly design, renewable resources and Mother Nature, its creators explain their purpose simply: “positive options and hope need to be encouraged.”
Many people are not often aware of the abundance of resources nearby or desire more knowledge about healthy living. Of equal importance, “there is a great need for a positive vision that can inspire active enjoyment of the out-of-doors and beautification of neighborhoods.”

Calling all amateur and professional graphic designers. You’re invited to create your unique interpretation of Michigan’s outstanding history of creativity/design and enter it into the Celebrate Michigan Design Poster Contest - organized by the Detroit chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Artists (AIGA).
The competition is free and open to all high school students, college students and professionals living, working and studying in Michigan. Deadline for submissions is May 15, 2008 at 5 p.m.

The State of Michigan has just announced the best film tax rebate credit program in the nation which Michigan Film Production has helped with in order to bring Film & Television projects to our great state.
This yields the highest production tax incentive in the nation. 40% Film Tax Rebate - 42% in 103 cities. Additional Michigan Film Incentives include infrastructure & digital filmmaking funds and production company loans.
