The 26th annual Downtown Hoedown hits Detroit this weekend, and - as in years past - this Hart Plaza Festival promises to deliver great national music acts, tasty treats and an all-around good time.

Ann Arbor electronic music label Ghostly International has teamed up with Cartoon Network’s late night Adult Swim “for a compilation of music, sights and sounds.”
“Ghostly Swim” features 19 songs from the “Ghostly International galaxy,” with artists Matthew Dear, Dabrye, The Chap and others. And, as part of the arrangement, mascots BoyCatBird make their animated debut in a video featuring music from the compilation.

The “Godfather of Funk” George Clinton and his Parliament-Funkadelic will headline this year’s musical lineup at Comerica CityFest. The free summer festival will hit Detroit’s New Center from July 2-6.
Joining Clinton will be hip-hop’s De La Soul, Broken Social Scene and Aly & AJ. A local Pure Detroit Stage will feature The Dead Bodies, Great Lakes Myth Society and Next Great American Band’s The Muggs. To date, almost 60 performers have been confirmed with additional major acts to be announced next month.

April 19 is National Record Store Day. The inaugural event will bring together music retailers across the country “to celebrate and recognize the value and unique culture of independent record stores.”
